I've been in a hard-fought war with my baby hairs for 21 years now, so when the chance to try out new hair care products comes my way, I always take it.
My latest endeavor has been testing out some products from usmooth, a professional hair care line that was brought to my attention via Instagram. The ucare products are safe for color-treated hair, infused with sunflower oil (for moisture and shine as well as UV protection) and smell absolutely amazing. Although I tried about six products, only two of them made the cut for my hair care routine—I'm a tried and true Unite user when it comes to in-shower products and decided to let usmooth take center stage when it comes to styling.
Here's how I style my hair after the shower:
usmooth Texture Volume Spray ($19)
If I want beachy waves I opt for Not Your Mother's sea salt spray, but if I want texture in my layers when I've straightened my hair I use a bit of this spray on the ends. I spray it on my fingertips first and then run my fingers through the tips of my hair so my layers look more defined. I've used it on my roots a few times when blow drying my hair as well.
usmooth Firm Strong Spray hairspray ($19)
My all-time favorite hairspray is Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play but it will often leave my hair feeling very dry. If I want to add volume to my hair, I flip it over to the opposite side of my part and use some dry shampoo at the roots, teasing it and spritzing usmooth's hairspray to lock the tease in place. It's a light hairspray and doesn't weigh your strands down which makes it perfect for an all-around spritz for a volume boost on your way out the door.
