I was trying to ignore the recent revival of ballet flats, but it's pretty clear this trend is here to stay, at least through the dog days of summer and into the fall.
I'm not one for traditional ballet flats (blame it on my middle school obsession with my white cotton lace pair) so I rounded up a few versions that I can actually stand.
Lace-up ballet flats are making a huge splash in the fashion world right now, and even though I'm not sure I could see myself with a satin pair of those bad boys, I could get on board with some less-lacy pairs.
Kimchi Blue Elastic Cross-Strap Flat
Just looking at this photo gets me excited for boyfriend jeans and flats this fall. I'll be wearing them with baggy jeans and loose fitting shirts for days, maybe with a blazer if I need to jazz it up a bit. I love the cross-strap action that's happening on this pair, because it feels very French but is bold enough to make a statement.
Zara Lace-Up Ballet Flats
If you like the kimchi flats above but don't like how thick the straps are, these Zara flats are a better option. I do like how these have a bit more lace action but it's not over the top. The gold accent on the heel really gives them a bit of dimension, and they sell them in a light gold color as well if you feel like black is too heavy.
Steve Madden Sidestep Sandal
You may have seen these on my Instagram, considering I've been wearing them nonstop since I found them at Nordstrom Rack. I love wearing brown and black leather together, since most of my outfits include one or the other. These are equally as perfect for the office as they are for a day full of errands.
Twill Mary Jane Flat
It's a little too warm to wear my favorite chunky white Adidas Superstars, but white shoes have become a staple in my wardrobe. I would love a pair of these white Mary Jane style flats for the end of summer, and now is a perfect time to get them since they're on sale! If you aren't into white, there are multiple other colors and styles on Urban right now, some on sale for just $5.
Spending some dough on a solid pair of flats to get you through early fall is definitely a good idea! I'll be ordering some from Zara to style within the next few weeks!
